
Cortana for Windows Phone 8.1 is now available in a lot of major countries like US, UK and Australia. So, If you belong to any of these countries then this post is not for you as you should have been already using Cortana. As, the Cortana is still in beta version so it is not available all over the world except some major countries. Now, If you don't belong to an of these countries and still want to spend time with Cortana then you are at the right place. It will just take a minute or two. So, no matter which country you belong to, this is gonna work for you. You need to make a few changes to your phone and everything is set up. Are you ready to take your hands on Cortana?
Step 1: Phone Language
First of all you need to change your phone's language to English (United States). To change the language to English (United States) Go to your phone Settings and then head to Language. If you already have English (United States) added as your language then proceed to the next step. Otherwise click on Add Language and selectEnglish (United States). A reboot may be required after adding the language. If you have more than one languages added then long tap on English (United States) and Move Up until it comes at the top. Ensure that English (United States) is active prior to continuing.
Step 2: Phone Region
Head into the Settings and then to the Region to move your virtual self from your current location to the US by changing the region. Ensure that "country/region" is set to the United States and "regional format" matches phone language. The phone may require a reboot.
After rebooting your phone you are ready to go. If you cannot see Cortana listed as an app on the app list, give the phone a final reboot. You should then be able to load up the Cortana app, which will run you through the initial setup wizard.
Step 3: Enable Location
Cortana won't work without Data Connection (Cellular or WiFi) and Location Services enabled. So do enable them and once you are done, Tap on the Search key on your phone to load up the most amazing feature of Windows phone 8.1, The Cortana.
